About Us

At Bare Dance YYC, our mission is to cultivate a community of dancers and choreographers who tell powerful, cinematic stories through movement, emotion, and character. We are more than a dance company — we are a creative collective of storytellers, innovators, and collaborators. Our productions are plot-driven and cinematic, designed to resonate with audiences of all backgrounds while preparing artists for careers that extend beyond the stage. Through mentorship, professional development, and industry connections, we provide opportunities to perform, create, and experiment across live performance, film, and digital media. For dancers, this means bold roles that challenge technical and expressive abilities; for choreographers, it’s a platform to develop meaningful, narrative-driven works and expand creative vision.

At Bare, every project is an opportunity to grow, innovate, and leave a lasting impact.

What We Offer

Cinematic Storytelling

Perform in productions with rich, compelling storylines, multi-dimensional characters, and emotional depth that captivate like feature films.

Dancers develop strong performance skills, while choreographers create narrative-driven pieces that push artistic boundaries and tell meaningful stories.

Professional Footage

& Photography

Each season, productions are professionally filmed and photographed, providing polished, industry-ready materials. These videos and photos are essential for building portfolios, audition reels, and promotional tools that open doors to future opportunities.

Festival & Performance Opportunities

Beyond mainstage shows, dancers and choreographers showcase work in local festivals, site-specific performances, and collaborative experimental projects. These platforms expand artistic range, expose artists to new audiences, and foster innovation in both performance and choreography.

On-Camera Training

Through workshops and film projects, dancers and choreographers develop skills for screen work, adapting movement and storytelling for music videos, commercials, narrative films, and digital content. This training broadens versatility and prepares artists for performing across mediums.

Portfolio Development

We support dancers and choreographers in building comprehensive digital portfolios with high-quality videos, professional photos, and behind-the-scenes content. These portfolios document growth and serve as powerful tools for securing gigs, commissions, or collaborations.

Industry Connections

& Career Growth

Our company hosts guest workshops, Q&As, and networking events with choreographers, directors, producers, and other creatives. We offer audition coaching, choreography mentorship, and career guidance to equip artists with skills, connections, and confidence for their careers beyond Bare Dance.

Remy Voogt
Training Director

Remy has continued to keep dance as a vital part of her career through choreography, performances, artistry, and creativity. As a recent graduate of Mount Royal University with a Bachelor of Communications in Broadcast Media Studies with a Minor in Marketing, Remy understands cinematic storytelling and how that translates into dance and choreography. She brings knowledge on video production, content creation, as well as emotional stories told with dance translating through a lens.

She is constantly reminding dancers to take risks, trust the process, and believe in the artistry they are presenting. Her leadership, enthusiasm, and encouragement ensures that each performer is proud of the work that they are putting out into the world.
